Bliss balls
Peanut Protein Balls

Made in under ten minutes, these peanut protein balls are the perfect snack for any time of the day.

Easy no bake peanut butter protein balls are all the rage right now. Packed with peanuts, dates, cocoa, and coconut, they provide a serious amount of good fats and energy to get you through the midday slump.

What are bliss balls?

Protein balls, also sometimes referred to as bliss balls, are versatile simple treats that can be made using a great range of raw and nutritious ingredients. Blended together in a food processor and rolled into bitesize balls, these bliss balls make for easy on-the-run snacks and lunchbox additions.

What can I add to them?

The idea with these protein balls is to include as many energy-boosting ingredients as possible. Dates and nuts are commonly used as the base, with the addition of unprocessed and whole foods such as oats, seeds, cocoa, and coconut.

Can I add chocolate?

The quick answer is YES! Dark chocolate is rich in disease-fighting antioxidants and can help reduce blood pressure and lower your risk of heart disease. This is particularly because of the flavanols. In addition, dark chocolate also contains compounds with anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce inflammation in the body. Dark chocolate contains 50-90% cocoa solids, cocoa butter, and sugar. The higher the cocoa content of cocoa the lower the amount of sugar, however, this also means a greater bitter flavour.

So go ahead, and include dark chocolate in your bliss balls, but use it in moderation.

How to make no bake snicker bar protein balls

Ingredients for Peanut Protein Balls

You don’t need to go on a special supermarket trip to make these snacks. Most of the ingredients are pantry staples.

Add the peanuts to a food processor and blitz until ground well. Scoop out two tablespoons of the mix and add to one tablespoon of coconut. You will use this to roll the “dough” balls in.

Add the dates, coconut, cocoa and a pinch of salt to the food processor and blitz until ingredients come together to form a ‘dough’. Add a little water if needed.

Roll the mix into balls and roll each one in some of the ground peanuts and coconut.
