Iced Dirty Chai Tea Latte
Dirty Chai Frappe

The ultimate at-home indulgent drink has to be this dirty chai tea frappe. Essentially the chilled version of a spiced chai tea, this drink is prepared and served in 5 under minutes. It can be served as is, or alternatively with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon.

I won’t be the first person to try and replicate the Dirty Chai Recipe from Starbucks. At a cost of around $6.60 for the tall, it seems much cheaper to try and make at home. Although initially it wasn’t my intention to make it exactly like Starbucks, honestly, I think my recipe is better. Finally, once you’ve mastered this Dirty Chai Tea recipe you can enjoy it as often as you like.

It’s no surprise that Chai Tea has become so popular. Originating from India, Chai is widespread with many household and regional variations. Dating back to around 5000 and 9000 years ago it was said that the reigning king created the recipe as a healing Ayurvedic beverage. It contains a variety of spices such as cinnamon, cardamon, cloves, and ginger, it is served either hot or cold and even as a remedy for mild ailments.

What is a Dirty Chai Tea?

Ordering a Dirty Chai has become very popular over the last couple of years. It’s also now commonly found in most coffee shop menu’s. Usually made with steamed milk, a single shot of espresso and a chai concentrate or tea, the result is a unique mix of a regular latte and a chai tea latte.

How to make the Dirty Chai Tea Frappe

Mix a shot of warm coffee with instant chai. Finally, add the milk and ice and process with a blender until smooth. Immediately pour the mixture into a glass, garnished, and served.

The easiest way to prepare this drink is by adding all your ingredients into a blender and then whipping it up. This Nutribullet blender is by far one of our favourites. It has multiple speeds, a pulse function, extraction capabilities, and a vented lid to accommodate hot ingredients.

Not only is this drink enjoyable but according to The Spruce Eats consuming this drink made of black tea and espresso one can also enjoy a number of health benefits:
